2017 Equine Health and Biosecurity Requirements

Blenheim EquiSports is dedicated to the health, welfare and safety of all exhibitors both equine and human. To protect our equine partners, we will be requiring the following protocols at the Blenheim EquiSports Horse Shows held at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at San Juan Capistrano, the Del Mar Horsepark in Del Mar and the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

All horses stabling on the show grounds must arrive between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. If it is necessary to arrive at any other time you must contact the show office prior and check in with night security.

MANDATORY
1. A current health certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian dated within 7 days for each horse must be filed with the horse show office prior to issuance of show number. The health certificate must list your horse’s show name and document that your horse has:
 • Received regular and consistent vaccination against Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus 1 & 4 (Rhinopneumonitis) with most recent booster being within 180 days and not within 7 days (per USEF GR845).
 • Not shown symptoms of or been treated for EHV-4/1 or any other contagious disease within the past 28 days.
 • Not been at a facility under quarantine for EHV-4/1 or exposed to any horses showing symptoms of EHV-4/1 within the past 28 days.

2. A certificate of vaccination (DOWNLOAD FORM HERE) for each entered horse must be filed with the horse show office prior to issuance of show number. Completed certificates may be emailed to ShowparkVacs@gmail.com or faxed to (949) 443-1843 (for Blenheim shows) or (858) 481-6536 (for Showpark shows).

RECOMMENDED
You should be able to document your horse’s normal temperature before arrival. Please do not ship horses with elevated temperatures. It is strongly recommended that you establish a log of temperatures taken at least twice a day. If there is an elevated temperature for more than a 24 hour period, please consult your local veterinarian immediately and report the situation to management. Isolation stalls will be available either on the grounds or at a local veterinary practice if the need arises.

Every effort should be made to minimize stress and commingling of horses being shipped long distances. Extra hours on a horse van, or moving from stable to stable is the fastest way to compromise your horses and health of your neighbor’s horses.

Please check the show premium for any additional and possible mandatory requirements.
